Day 1: Arrival - Kigali. Meet and greet at Kigali Airport by our professional driver guide and then transfer to your hotel. Overnight at Hotel Milles Collines. HB Day 2: City Tour & Museum. This morning enjoy a city tour of Kigali, one of the friendliest African capitals and a great introduction to the land of a thousand hills. FB Day 3: Kigali - AkageraNational Park You will transfer to Akagera National Park you will enjoy a game drive as you spot elephant, giraffe, hippo, zebra, crocodiles. And for the really lucky visitor you might also spot lion, leopard and black rhino. Akagera National Park is a must for anyone really wanting to experience the delights of an African game reserve without the crowds of other more famous parks. Dinner and Overnight at Akagera Lodge. Day 4: Game drive - Kigali After the morning game drive you will then transfer to Kigali. Overnight at Hotel Milles Collines. HB Day 5: Kigali - Nyungwe You will drive to Nyungwe National Park with a visiting enroute to the famous National Museum at Butare and the ancient King’s Palace at Nyanza. Dinner and Overnight at Nyungwe Forest Lodge. Day 6: Visit Kamiranzovu Waterfalls Today you have the opportunity to do a nature walk, visiting Kamiranzovu waterfall. The forest comprises amongst many things at least 200 tree species, over 280 bird species and more than 100 different types of colourful butterfly a true feast of the senses for the nature lover. Day 7: Chimp tracking Nyungwe National Park is the largest block of montane forest in East or Central Africa and is an incredibly rich area of biodiversity but the reason for your visit today is the primates. With 13 species resident you report early in the morning to the Park’s offices before heading off to trek chimpanzee. Dinner and Overnight at Nyungwe Forest Lodge. Day 8-9: Nyungwe Forest - Lake Kivu You will drive to Lake Kivu enjoy the drive along beautiful Lake Kivu as you head to the picturesque town of Kibuye. After lunch take a relaxing boat trip to either Napoleon’s (it’s shaped like his hat) Island or Amahoro (peace) Island. Dinner and Overnight at Serena Lake Kivu. Day 10: lake Kivu - Volcanoe National Park Transfer to Volcanoes National Park dinner and overnight at Gorilla Mountain View Lodge. Day 11: Gorilla tracking An early start to Kinigi, home to the Volcanoes National Park Offices where you are briefed before commencing the once in a life time experience of mountain gorilla tracking. Dinner and Overnight at Gorilla Mountain View Lodge. Day 12: Volcanoes National Park - Nkuringo You will transfer to Nkuringo in Uganda. Dinner and Overnight at Clouds Lodge. Day 13: Gorilla tracking Looking in the eye of the gorilla will be the highlight of the whole safari! Especially hikers will love the tracking in the beautiful ecosystem of the park. Expect to walk a long distance in steep and muddy conditions, sometimes with rain overhead, before you encounter any gorillas. Day 14: Make a choice You will either go for hiking from Nkuringo to Buhoma or Canoeing in Mgahinga. Dinner and Overnight at Clouds Lodge. Day 15: Nkuringo - Kibale National Park After a relaxed breakfast we will transfer to Fort Portal rests in the shadow of the fabled “Mountains of the Moon” and is famous for the many tea plantations. From this lovely town we will continue to Kibale National Park, while passing the region of the Crater Lakes. Here we will explore some small lakes, before heading to our accommodation for tonight. Dinner and overnight at Primate Lodge Kibale. Day 16: Chimp trekking & Bigodi swamp Today the forest opens its doors for a sensational chimp tracking. Kibale Forest is reputable of having the greatest variety and highest concentration of primates in East Africa. Enjoy a guided nature walk in the tropical rainforest in search of the wild chimpanzee, red-tailed monkey, black-and-white colobus monkey and many others. After a hearty lunch we transfer to the Bigodi Swamp for another, totally different nature walk. The Bigodi Swamp Walk is an initiative of the local community and is known for its rich diversity of birds and primates. Dinner and overnight at Primate Lodge Kibale. Day 17: Kibale National Park - Entebbe After breakfast we will transfer to Entebbe with a stopover for lunch. Overnight at Lake Victoria Serena Hotel.
