The protected areawascreated in 1993 and occupies an area of 766 Square Kilometers extending southwards to form a block with Queen Elizabeth National Park from Fort portal. Kibale Forest National Park is blessed with the concentration of Primate especially Chimpanzees than any other park in East Africa.
Kibale Forest National Park has an advantage of being accessible, Chimpanzee tracking, Chimpanzee Habituation, rain forest, grassland, Swamps, nearby Kasenda Crater Lakes and different accommodations making someone’s dream come true.
The park is a habitat for over 60 mammals with the primates being the highest; there are 13 species of primates recorded including the Chimpanzees, Vervet monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkey, Red-tailked monkeys, red colobus monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabey, blue monkeys, olive baboon, black-and-white colobus monkeys. Bigger mammals can also be identified like the forest race Elephants, Buffaloes, Antelopes, Giant forest hog, butterflies, tree species, different bird species of over 335 birds especially for bird watcher etc.

The most important activity in Kibale Forest National Park that can’t be avoided and is the highlight of the park is Chimpanzee tracking which starts from Kanyanchu from 08.00 and and other one from 14.00 daily. Each group takes 18 people and Chimpanzee tracking can be done any time in the year because the weather in Uganda is favorable.
